Vilma Jacket

This is a vintage knitting pattern for Vilma, a lovely lightweight jacket with a collar and unique ridged details across the body and sleeves. The pattern is taken from the Patons & Baldwins Knitting Book No. 323. This book is from the early 1950s and featured women’s jumper and cardigan patterns with accentuated waists typical of the ‘New Look’ fashion trend at the time. 

This pattern has two sizes, to fit a 34-35 or 36-37 inch bust. It also comes with short and long sleeve options.

Materials required:

• 19-14 ozs of Patons Catkin fleck wool. This wool can be substituted with modern materials to achieve a gauge of 15.5 stitches to two inches.
• Knitting needles size UK 10/3.25mm.
• Knitting needles size UK 12/2.75mm.
• 5 buttons. 
• One press stud.
