Valmai Button Down Sweater

This is a vintage knitting pattern for Valmai, a lovely little button down sweater with simple lace patterning and a collar. The pattern is taken from the Patons & Baldwins Knitting Book No. 323. This book is from the early 1950s and featured women’s jumper and cardigan patterns with accentuated waists typical of the ‘New Look’ fashion trend at the time. 

This pattern has two sizes, to either a 33-24 or 35-36 inch bust. It also comes with either short or long sleeve options.

Materials required:

• 7-10 ozs of Patons Azalea crochet wool. This wool can be substituted with modern materials to achieve a gauge of 8 stitches to the inch.
• Knitting needles size UK 10/3.25mm.
• Knitting needles size UK 12/2.75mm.
• 13 buttons.
