Matching Dress and Jacket

This is a vintage knitting pattern for a matching dress and jacket in a beautiful striped pattern. The dress has a lovely tie at the neck, buttons down the front of the bodice, and gathers at the front of the skirt. The pattern is taken from the Lux Book of 1950, a collection of family patterns including women’s, men’s and children’s garments. 

This pattern is made to fit a 34-36 inch bust. 

Materials required for dress:

• 10 ozs crochet wool in each light and dark colour. This wool can be substituted with modern materials to achieve a gauge of 7.5 stitches x 9 rows for 1 x 1 inches in pattern. 

• Knitting needles size UK 9/3.75mm.

• 5 buttons.

• 1 narrow leather belt. 

• ¾ yard 1-inch wide elastic. 

 Materials required for jacket:

• 6 ozs crochet wool in each light and dark colour. This wool can be substituted with modern materials to achieve a gauge of 7.5 stitches x 13 rows for 1 x 1 inches in pattern. 

• Knitting needles size UK 10/3.25mm, as well as DPNs in this size.
