Gardening Sweater

This is a vintage knitting pattern for a classic shaped men’s sweater with a basket weave stitch pattern, described in the pattern as being ‘perfect for gardening or golf’. The pattern is taken from Stitchcraft booklet no. 213, which has a variety of women’s and men’s patterns, as well as homewares. 

This pattern comes in two sizes, and is made to fit a 36-38, and 38-40 inch chest. 

Materials required:

• 12-13 ozs Patons fingering 4-ply wool for jacket. This wool can be substituted with modern materials to achieve a tension of 6.5 stitches x 8.5 rows for 1 x 1 inch of knitting.  

• Knitting needles size UK 11/3mm.

• Knitting needles size UK 9/3.75mm.
