Filigree Lace Dress

This is a vintage knitting pattern for the Filigree dress, no. 2889. This dress has a lovely open lace pattern with a sweet belt and waist ribbing, as well as a Peter Pan collar and puffed sleeves. The large lace stitch is created by using 2 ply wool with a larger needle size. The pattern is taken from the Sun-Glo Knitting Book Series 73. This book is from the 1940s and features women’s frocks, or jacket and skirt combinations. 

The size is for a 32-34 inch bust, however includes instructions on how to alter the sizes with choices from a 36” bust, 40” bust or 44” bust. 

Materials required:

• 10 skeins Sun-Glo Shrinkproof 2 ply fingering weight wool. This wool can be substituted with modern materials to achieve a gauge of 6 stitches x 8 rows for a 1 x 1” square.
• Knitting needles size UK 8/4mm.
• Knitting needles size UK 12/2.75mm.  
• Crochet hook. 
• 3 small buttons. 
• 1 press stud.
