Diagonal Stripe Sweater

This is the cover pattern for the Woolworths Economy Knitting Book no. 23. The sweater has lovely diagonal colourwork in contrasting red and yellow, and I think the colour combinations for this would be endless! This book is from the 1940s and features women’s and men’s clothing items, including sweaters, cardigans and dresses. 

The size is for a 32-34 inch bust. 

Materials required:

• 10-12 skeins Woolworth’s Super 4-ply fingering wool. This wool can be substituted with modern materials to achieve a gauge of 7 stitches x 17 rows for 1 x 2”. 
• Knitting needles size UK 10/3.25mm.
• Knitting needles size UK 12/2.75mm.  
• Crochet hook. 
• 3 buttons.
