Coat and Skirt

This is a vintage knitting pattern for a coat, and skirt combination, made in the sample in a deep forest green with gold buttons. The coat has a lovely tailored waist, and the skirt is widely ribbed for a beautiful shape. The pattern is taken from Stitchcraft booklet no. 213, which has a variety of women’s patterns and homewares. 

This pattern is made to fit a 36 inch bust. 

Materials required:

• 10 ozs Patons fair isle fingering 3-ply wool for jacket, and 14 ozs for skirt. This wool can be substituted with modern materials to achieve a tension of 8 stitches x 10 rows for 1 x 1 inch of knitting.  

• Knitting needles size UK 11/3mm.

• 8 buttons. 

• 1-inch wide elastic for skirt waist. 

• Crochet hook.
